Dr Margot Whitfeld is a Sydney dermatologist who has been working intermittently in Fiji since 2003, undertaking research and now assisting with the development of post graduate dermatology training through the Fiji National University.  

Her major area of research has been scabies, and she has been a Chief investigator in 3 NHMRC grants, and worked with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Global Fund in Scabies and Filariasis.

She speaks nationally and internationally on HIV  skin manifestations  and scabies related health concerns and has published widely in these areas, including three in the New England Journal of Medicine.

She is Head of the Department of Dermatology at St Vincent’s Private Hospital,  Conjoint Associate Professor at  UNSW, lectures yearly at the University of Sydney and has published widely in the area of HIV dermatology.

Her other research interests include pacific dermatology, rosacea and infectious skin disease.
