Dr. Vinod Elangasinghe has been working in the NHS (UK), holding substantive posts as a Consultant Dermatologist, continuously for the past 10 years. He works for the Salford Royal NHS Trust in Manchester, which is now the largest dermatology unit in the UK.

His areas of research interests revolve around immunology, infections, wound healing and genodermatoses. His most recent work has been in sclerosing panniculitis of lower limbs.

He is an advisor in Dermatology for regional leg ulcer services run by Tissue Viability Nursing teams. He is also one of the senior members of the Pioneer Healthcare Dermatology Team, who are providing a novel model of Consultant led NHS community dermatology services in Sheffield.

A co-editor to ‘Clinical & Experimental Dermatology’, he is also an honorary senior clinical lecturer for the University of Sheffield and University of Manchester.

Working for Skin Clinics (the largest network of Consultant led private laser services in the UK), he provides laser treatments to his dermatology patients wherever it is recommended.

Dr. Elangasinghe has also held posts of Vice Chair for the South Yorkshire Skin Cancer Governing Body NSSG and Lead of Skin Cancer Services in North Derbyshire.

His other interests are cricket, cooking and music.
